Extension & Challenge Cards Set 1

2/21/2015

I have made some challenge extension cards to be used in any maths lesson! The way I was going to use them was to cut them all out and laminate them, and then put them in an envelope for my challenge board! This is the first set and I am making a few more that will be available soon! Some of the challenges are quite short such as the countdown themed questions and others could take up a whole day if wanted, such as the chessboard problem and the four colour theorem card. There are some really interesting puzzles and challenges here that will cater for all age groups. I hope you enjoy them as they drove me mad creating them! (Loved it really)

There are 24 cards in total so these should keep you going for a while! They are really handy to have for when all of the extension or challenge work has been completed and you want to extend the task etc etc. I was thinking about making a class sheet to stick next to them when students can tick off which puzzle they have completed and perhaps offer a prize for the most completed by the end of the year! Let me know if you'd be interested in that!

Here is the finished product! Laminated and ready to go next half term! :-) Let me know how they go if you use them! Sorry if there are any mistakes I have double checked them but I am a bit stir crazy ha!

These are fantastic! Quick question though what is the answer to the 4th one on the 1st page? (about the missing number in the triangle) I agree answers would be great!

Hello Annabel! Thankyou! :-)

In regards to the answer:

8/4 = 2 and 2 x 3 = 6

SO this could mean 9/6 = 1.5 and 1.5 * 4 = 6

OR

3 x 8 = 24 and 24/4 = 6

SO this could mean 4 x 9 = 36 and 36/6 = 6

So either way the number will be 6! There may be another way though so do let me know if you find one!

I will try and do some answers as soon as I get a minute :-) I agree they would be handy!
