So Much Data! Box Plots Match Cards

3/6/2015

Feels like all I am doing is data at the moment as I have data with 3 different classes! Decided I needed to make some new resources to mix it up a bit! Here's the first one, some box plots match cards. Students have to match the box plot to the data and then also to the interquartile range calculation. I am going to use it as an introduction with my KS3 class before we start building them.

Hope you find these useful I hope there are no mistakes! I am only human though so please do let me know if there are! :-)

You can download the full box plots file here

Here is a picture of one of the sheets. I have also done a blank template to be used as an extension which you can get here

Here's another one! I used this when leading up to expanding brackets, the concept of the worksheet follows the others I did on fractions but there are a nice range of questions and progression moving down the worksheet!

Hope you like it! :-)

Back to fractions - Multiplying

3/2/2015

Managed to get this one finalised! I've got one of my classes only once a week so trying to get as much out of the lessons as possible. I've put together another one of these worksheets as we're just starting fractions, I've got a division on coming up next week as well so keep your eyes out!

I've got some more games on the way as well but they have taken a back seat this term. Should hopefully have my next one finished in 2-3 weeks! :-)

Sorry for the lack of posts recently! Tonnes of stuff to upload by the time Easter holidays come around!!

Extension & Challenge Cards Set 1

2/21/2015

I have made some challenge extension cards to be used in any maths lesson! The way I was going to use them was to cut them all out and laminate them, and then put them in an envelope for my challenge board! This is the first set and I am making a few more that will be available soon! Some of the challenges are quite short such as the countdown themed questions and others could take up a whole day if wanted, such as the chessboard problem and the four colour theorem card. There are some really interesting puzzles and challenges here that will cater for all age groups. I hope you enjoy them as they drove me mad creating them! (Loved it really)

There are 24 cards in total so these should keep you going for a while! They are really handy to have for when all of the extension or challenge work has been completed and you want to extend the task etc etc. I was thinking about making a class sheet to stick next to them when students can tick off which puzzle they have completed and perhaps offer a prize for the most completed by the end of the year! Let me know if you'd be interested in that!

Here is the finished product! Laminated and ready to go next half term! :-) Let me know how they go if you use them! Sorry if there are any mistakes I have double checked them but I am a bit stir crazy ha!

Expanding Double Brackets Worksheet

2/20/2015

I'm on a roll this half term! I need to stop making resources I think i'm an addict!

Here's another squares game worksheet, this time using expanding double brackets. Game to be played in pairs, all the answers are down the bottom so pairs can assess their answers.

I get the students to write the questions and answers in their books and then just to play the game on the worksheet. Means I can make sure they're answering the questions and not just having a game of squares ha!

Enjoy! You can download this resource here!

Vector Collector Maths Game

2/20/2015

Lift off on vector collector! I have to be honest I am sick of looking at these graphics now, I think this may be the last one in the co-ordinate grid series of games! I am going to move onto something different for the next one so any suggestions will be welcome! I'm pretty happy with this one though I was't sure it was going to work! :-)
Picture
Again this game is for one or two players, the aim is to use vectors to move around the board collecting different points based on gold, silver or bronze nuggets. The player moves in the x-direction first and then in the y-direction.

As it stands there are unlimited moves at the moment. Simply to give the player enough chance to play and understand the use of vectors before the game ends. I may be making some changes to this in the future though. Maybe an arcade round with time or limited rounds.

Below you can see the players start at the origin.
Picture
The game can also be played in single player. As it stands the game is quite easy to play and not too much of a challenge on single player. Any suggestions are welcome though please message me via the website or on twitter @accessmaths

Adding Fractions Worksheet

2/19/2015

Finally managed to get this one up after I had to correct a few mistakes that we found during the lesson! Adding and subtracting fractions worksheet! Now I am only human so please let me know if you find any mistakes this was a nightmare to put together.. took hours!

This worksheet actually formed the base of my lesson on adding fractions, I used it to break the lesson up into chunks of learning, so we started by looking at the first section and then re-directing to the worksheet. Those that wanted the extra challenge could continue down the worksheet but eventually we all got the the last few sections in the 'could' section.
Picture
Now I can't take all the credit for this one as it was created after a lengthy discussion with Mel from www.justmaths.co.uk @Just_Maths so thanks to Mel also for helping me design this :-)

I've made this worksheet so that each line progresses in difficulty. There are very slight changes moving up in the questions showing the progression of this topic. I hope you like it! :-)

Students also have all the answers so there was no need for any hands up! If the answer was't there then it was wrong! (Apart from the one I got wrong that my two 'mistake hunters' found for me)

Percentage Decreases Worksheet

2/16/2015

Made another one of these worksheets for percentage decreases as well! Seeming as my class enjoyed the first one so much I thought I'd keep it going. The worksheet is exactly the same as the percentage increases one except they are all decreases. There are some extension question on there as well and the final extension in the mastered section should stretch those that reach it.

I hope you like this one! Hopefully I will get a few made over the half term!

You can also download the answer sheet here if you want it.

Treasure Hunt Co-ordinate game

2/15/2015

The latest game I've made is called Treasure Hunt! It follows the same graphics as Gold Lines except in this game players are using co-ordinates to find hidden gold in the famous battleships style of play.
Picture
I've done my best to also make this a two player game where players can sit side by side and hunt for the hidden gold. Here the player who uncovers the last part of the piece will score the points. Players can take it in turns searching around the board to find all the hidden gold.

Sequences Squares Game

2/8/2015

2 in one weekend! I'm on fire ha! Here's another squares game using sequences. The idea is that 2 people play against each other by choosing a line they want to cross out following the regular rules for the squares game. By finding the nth term shown in the box at the bottom they can ensure they have the right answer and cross through their line.

Hope you enjoy it! :-) Not a bad way of getting a pair to answer 25 questions on sequences!
